Getting Back-To-School Made Easy

Preparations, school date, back-to-school supply list, Roy’s Boys offers and more!

Summer vacation is finally nearing its end. Fun holidays and a whole day of family time will return to normalcy with school, strict routine, homework, and studies. While going back to school may be an overwhelming feeling for kids, it is also the time they most look forward to—meeting old mates, making new friends, telling their vacation stories to their classmates, sharing lunches, gossiping, and definitely making new memories.

Going back to school is nostalgic for parents with older kids, but for parents, with school-going children, it means preparing the kids for their new year with school supplies, shopping, preparing kids for the new year, and a host of other things to do.

What is back to school?

“Back to school” was made famous by retailers and marketers with their sales and offers targeted at schoolgoers and their parents for the new school year. The term also means heading back to school after students’ long summer break.

When does the new school term tentatively begin in the UK?

This year the new school year is expected to start on Tuesday, 16th August in Scotland; Thursday, 1st September in England and Northern Ireland; and on Monday, 5th September in Wales.

Have you heard of Back to School Night?

Yes, you read that right, a back-to-school night! Unlike its meaning in literal terms, back-to-school night is a common term in countries like the USA. It is an event organised by most schools that takes place a few days before or during the first month of school. It's much like open days here in the UK.

At the school, parents can meet their children's teachers and other faculty, tour the school's amenities and infrastructure, and learn more about what the school has to offer.

Such events are a fabulous way to meet your kid’s teachers, befriend other parents, and learn about your kid’s school in detail, and the curriculum. It is also nice to socialise with like-minded parents and members of the faculty.
