Whether you’re staying in or going out, Bonfire Night is one of the cosiest occasions of the season.
Think cold cheeks, fingerless gloves and a mug of something warm. You've got fireworks, bonfires, market stalls and funfairs. There is quite literally something for everyone.
Keep your toes warm.
There is a lot of standing around, so keeping those toes in some warm cosy socks is essential! Especially if it's been wet, your shoes are bound to get soaked through and no one likes being stood there desperate to head home.
Choose your event
There are so many shows going on that sometimes it can be hard to pick the right one and imagine the FOMO if you end up picking the wrong one! Well, let me tell you that I don't think there is a wrong choice. Even if your fireworks display isn't the best around, it can still be a wonderful time.
My advice, either go big or go local. You could really make an event out of it, places like Clarkson's Farm and Lewes in East Sussex hold huge events with thousands of people. Or if that's not your style, you can support your local town and head there. Far fewer people, but most likely much more wholesome.
Fuel the family
Whether you're heading out before dinner or after, getting some hearty food in you is key for a happy evening. Because it's a lot of standing and walking around, the last thing you need is your kids or even your partner getting mardy due to hunger. So fuel up and head out on a full stomach. This also saves you from spending too much while out. Cost of living is hard enough without forking out £30 for 4 bacon baps.
Home comforts await
Don't forget, coming home can be the best part of the evening. Getting back to a warm house, wrapping up in your matching family pyjamas and sitting in front of the fire or tv is the ideal way to round off a chilly evening in the cold.
