Half-term adventures

Get those wellies on and get outdoors. The weather has turned, and the skies are cloudy, but that could never dampen Roy's Boys customers' spirits.

Day 1: Muddy hike

Time to get out of the house with the kids off and go off the beaten track. Whenever I go on a hike I'm always forcing my (slightly less adventurous) girlfriend to walk down the track that no one else has taken. Instead of walking along the path 20m away from the river, you can get your waterproof hiking boots or your wellies and walk directly up the stream itself. No better way to live than slightly different to what everyone is expecting.

Day 2: Puddle search

Yesterday was about the adventure. Today is about the discovery. Wellies on, raincoats on, waterproof bucket hats on, and let's go. Walking or running about the town, finding the biggest and best puddles you can find. A great time for the kids that's almost guaranteed to tire them out (and create some washing for you, sorry!). As a kid, I remember running around before school searching for the biggest road puddles and begging cars to splash us. An amazing memory that you can make with your kids!

Day 3: Movie day

After 2 days of being out and about, I think it's time to chill. Movie day always went down well in my home, a bag of popcorn, a KitKat and whichever soft drink you fancy can really make it a day to remember. If you really want to push the boat out, build a pillow fort cinema. Very extravagant, I know, but is a great way to get the kids involved!

Day 4: Baking

Okay, now we've had a rather unhealthy day, it's time to bake something healthy. Carrot & apple muffins, raisin & blueberry flapjacks, warm berry compote and Greek yoghurt. The key to keeping everything as healthy as possible? Swap out the refined sugar for locally sourced honey. One of the greatest flavours of all time is my local farm shop's Derbyshire honey. It totally transforms all foods from ok to wonderful, I highly recommend.

Day 5: Time for rest

Annddddd relax, I think by this point you all deserve a slow morning, and that's exactly what to do. Get those cosy socks on, have a lie in, and chill.
